Wolf and High Content Wolfdog Care:  Canid Care Plus fees apply if your wolf or wolfdog is socialized and can travel to Canid’s location.  Due to specialized “skills” unique to these canines, containment will differ from standard plans, as Canid ensures a secure, private, escape-proof care solution.  As is common with wolves or high contents, if your wolf friend(s) must be cared for onsite at your location, contact us to discuss fees and arrangements.  Additional surcharges may still apply.  *

* Due to the personalized nature of our Dog Sitting Service and the fact that your dog will live as part of our family, dogs that have not yet learned to enjoy the company of other dogs will be required to purchase the Canine Plus Package and an additional $10 per day surcharge will apply.  For dogs displaying aggression towards humans, and additional $10 per day surcharge will apply.

Oh, no!  It’s 11:00 pm on Saturday night and Grandma in Canada has taken a fall, eh? She’ll be okay, thank goodness, but you need to leave right now to go to her aid.  Because she lives in an apartment that doesn’t permit animals, you can’t take Dog!  What to do?

Call Canid.  We offer after hours boarding and, in most cases, pick up services.

Your wife has been begging you to go whitewater rafting with her.  You’re game to try it and would enjoy a romantic, adventure filled weekend getaway, but then you think of Mr. Pooky Pumpkin, your cherished Pug and best friend in the whole wide world (um, next to your wife, of course).  Who will brush his teeth, change his sweater, and give him his after dinner organic grain free treat and 6:42 pm tummy tickle?  You picture Mr. Pooky Pumpkin, huddled miserably in a cold, stainless steel and wire cage, alone, pining for you and still wearing his jogging suit from yesterday.   Oh, you can’t, you just can’t … or can you?  Yes - Call Canid!

At Canid, your dog will live in our home located on twenty scenic country acres as a member of the family.  While on vacation at Canid, your dog will receive all the personalized love and attention he’s learned to expect from you.  He’ll receive exercise appropriate for his breed, age and health and we’ll do our best to mirror the schedules and habits that are familiar to him to minimize stress during your absence.  Administering medications or other treatments are included in the fee – as well as meeting specialized needs such as daily wardrobe selection for dogs like Mr. Pooky Pumpkin!

The Care Plus plan adds structured training.  Please note, this does not mean your dog will be returned to you fully trained and ready to pass his AKC Canine Good Citizen test!  However, we’ll work on basic obedience tasks or problem areas that will provide a good foundation for when he returns home.  For dogs displaying aggression towards other dogs or humans that require the Care Plus plan, we’ll work hard on modifying that behavior while you’re away.  Many clients will pair the Care Plus plan with a behavioral consulting session to ensure they can continue building on this foundation, and all clients report improvement in their dog as a result of the training they receive under the Care Plus plan.

We ask that you provide Dog’s regular food/diet and familiar comfort items, to include a clothing article or towel carrying your scent, for your dog during his stay with us.  Canid simply cannot stock all the food brands in existence today and a dietary change during boarding typically results in upset stomachs, digestive tract problems and increased stress.  We thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

For Wolf and Wolfdog clients:  Canid has extensive experience handling and managing captive wolves and wolfdogs.  Due to their curiosity levels, strength, agility, intelligence, tenacity and prowess as escape artists, proper containment for wolves and high contents will not allow for them to live full time in the house, though they will spend supervised time in the home if temperament permits.  Canid has a secure, comfortable housing solution for your wolf or high content that still ensures plenty of daily enrichment, exercise and attention.  If your wolf or high content needs to be cared for at your location, Canid will visit and monitor health, containment security, administer meds, and provide food, enrichment and attention (as is appropriate and acceptable to the wolf or high content).  Care Plus training and behavioral modification is also included at your request and executed based on your wolf or wolfdog’s temperament.  While under Canid’s care, your wolf or wolfdog’s privacy will be strictly safeguarded.

Because of the personalized attention your dog, wolf or wolfdog will receive in our care, Dog Sitting services are available only on a limited basis to ensure each client and their canine friend receives full benefit.  We encourage you to contact Canid and set up a client account prior to using this service.   Taking the time to visit, inspect where your dog, wolf or wolfdog will stay, and allow us to conduct a brief personality test on your dog is of great benefit.  (If Grandma in Canada needs you suddenly, you’ll sure be glad you took the time to plan in advance, eh?)  Boarding clients are also welcome to visit several times for acclimation purposes prior to using our service.  For acclimation visits, you will simply walk the property with your dog, let him meet our caretakers, resident dog friends, etc., all under calm, stress free conditions so he’ll enjoy this visit in the future.  For acclimation visits, we request a $25 deposit which will be deducted from your total fee once you have boarded your dog.  Please note:  For a number of reasons, we cannot accommodate requests to meet or view wolves or high content wolfdogs in our care while you are visiting or boarding your dog.  We apologize for this disappointment, and thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

All Dog Sitting service fees must be paid in advance.  If you are uncertain of your return date, we ask that you pay a week’s fee and an additional one week deposit.  You will only be charged for services provided and Canid will refund any unused portion of your balance upon your return.

Prior to boarding, you’ll be asked to complete a brief questionnaire and return it along with a $25 non-refundable deposit, which will be deducted from your total fee due at the time of the first lesson.  On the day of arrival, you’ll also be asked to sign a services contract/release of liability and show proof of vaccination.
